Neck & back

Ankylosing spondylitis

Back pain and stiffness in a young adult that is WORSE after rest and BETTER with movement.

Low back pain

Most back pain comes from muscles and joints, not from damage to the spine.

Sciatica

Pain travelling from the back down into the leg means a nerve is being irritated.

Shoulder & elbow

Frozen shoulder

The shoulder becomes stiff and painful, and then slowly frees again.

Golfer's elbow

Pain on the inner side of the elbow, worst when gripping or bending the wrist.

Rotator cuff pain

Pain when lifting the arm, reaching behind, or lying on that side at night.

Tennis elbow

Pain on the outer side of the elbow, worst when gripping or lifting with the palm down.

Carpal tunnel syndrome

Numbness, tingling and pain in the thumb, index and middle fingers — classically waking you at night and eased by shaking the hand.

Ganglion (wrist lump)

A smooth, firm lump on the back or front of the wrist, or at the base of a finger.

Thumb base arthritis

Pain at the base of the thumb when gripping, pinching, opening jars or turning a key.

Trigger finger

A finger that catches or clicks as you bend it, and sometimes locks bent so you have to straighten it with the other hand.

Hip & knee

Hip arthritis

Pain felt in the GROIN and the front of the thigh, with stiffness putting on socks and shoes.

Knee arthritis

Arthritis means the cushioning in the knee has thinned.

Kneecap pain

Pain at the front of the knee, worse going down stairs, squatting, or after sitting for a long time.

Foot & ankle

Achilles tendon pain

Pain and stiffness in the tendon at the back of the ankle, worst first thing in the morning.

Ankle sprain

A rolled ankle stretches the ligaments on the outside.

Diabetic foot care

If you have diabetes, the nerves in your feet may not warn you when something is wrong.

Hammer Toe

A toe that has curled and rubs in the shoe

Heel pain

Pain under the heel, worst on the first few steps in the morning and after sitting.
